54th Annual Governor’s Carolighting
Celebrate the start of the holiday season with the lighting of the state Christmas tree. Tickets are required for in-person attendance. Although things look a bit different this year, our holiday spirit remains the same. Enjoy musical performances and the Governor’s seasonal message from the comfort of home on your TV or livestream the event on social media, or join the socially-distant celebration in person on the State House Grounds on Sunday, November 22 at 5:30 p.m.
Due to COVID-19, the 54th Annual Governor’s Carolighting will be held at a reduced capacity of 125 persons. General admission for standing room only will be limited, and attendees will be required to reserve a ticket if they wish to attend. Tickets are free and open to the public up until the 125 person limit at which time ticket sales will close. Register for your free ticket here.

Christmas in Cayce
Join the City of Cayce on December 3rd from 6:00 – 8:00 pm for Christmas in Cayce! Take a ride through the Cayce City Hall grounds and enjoy thousands of twinkling lights, Carolers, historically-themed Christmas Trees, holiday treats and a visit from Santa in Cayce’s historic 1937 Rio firetruck! His elves will be handing out pre-packaged treats! Our Cayce Woman’s Club will also be collecting canned goods and non-perishable food items as part of the 18th Annual Cayce Cares project benefitting God’s Helping Hands and the Scooter Scott Project! Join City of Aiken PRT for their annual Festival of Trees at the Aiken Visitors Center and Train Museum. Be sure to stop by on Friday, December 4 at 4:00 pm as they light the trees. Vote for the best decorated tree until Friday, December 18. The winner will be announced on Sunday, December 20.

Newberry’s North Pole Nights
North Pole Nights will be hosted on Fridays, December 4, 11, and 18! Experience the wonders of the North Pole! Enjoy fluttering faux snow in Memorial Park, and be sure to scan the interactive QR coded video of the week with your smart phone or mobile device to see a special Christmas story from Mrs. Claus, courtesy of the Newberry County Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber will also have a free Christmas craft baggie for you to pick up and take home (limited to first 50). Before arrival, all children are invited to write letters to Santa, at home, to bring and place in the NEW letters to Santa mailbox! Santa will reply to 3 letters weekly!

COVID-19 changes – The Town will follow all up-to-date COVID-19 guidance and protocol. All events will be held outdoors to encourage social distancing. Craft Fair vendors will be spaced and one-way walking pattern. Saturday’s Carnival will make tickets limited each hour and all rides/games sanitized after each use. Santa will make an appearance but no one will sit on his lap – there will be a station where kids can create and mail off letters to Santa.

This annual Christmas tradition is going virtual! Each year, the Candlelight Tour of Homes celebrates the Southern hospitality that Camden is known for! For children 2 – 12. Join ICRC for a one-of-a-kind candy cane adventure! Santa and his elves will be hiding candy canes along the trail at Crooked Creek Park for kids to hunt for! Christmas at the Silent Movies
The Peacherine Ragtime Society Orchestra is “the premier American ragtime ensemble” as hailed by “The Washington Post,” and is one of America’s few professional ensembles dedicated to the preservation of America’s first popular music: Ragtime. “Christmas at the Silent Movies” features the holiday-themed silent films of the early 1900s: Buster Keaton in “The Frozen North” (1922), Laurel & Hardy in “Big Business” (1929) and the first-ever film adaptations of “A Christmas Carol” (1910) and “The Night Before Christmas” (1905), all accompanied live with their original orchestral scores. New Year’s Eve for Kids
Looking for a fun new way to ring in the New Year with your kids? The City of Aiken Parks, Recreation & Tourism Department is set to host Kiddie Countdown! Kiddie Countdown is scheduled for New Year’s Eve. The countdown will be virtual, but our “New Year’s Eve in a Box” will guarantee a fun time. The package will include hats, noisemakers, sparkling grape juice and other unique items. With your party supplies in hand, you can tune in to watch our video segments throughout the evening with a New Year’s Eve ball drop at 9:00 p.m.! Stop by to reserve your “New Year’s Eve in a Box”. The cost is $20 for a family of 4, $5 per extra person. Pickup date will be December 21st with the actual celebration taking place on December 31st.
